Raohe Main Entrance

Travel in Taiwan | Raohe Night Market

THE best place to visit in the Songshan district is the Raohe Night Market. The Raohe Night Market is one of the oldest night markets in Taipei (and Taiwan) and my personal favorite. Video linked at the bottom! Raohe has your typical night market finds, Michelin-starred stalls, and unique eats.… Read More »Travel in Taiwan | Raohe Night Market

Taipei 101 and Skyline

Taipei Hidden Gem | Zhong Pu Shan

If you’re in Taipei and want a chance to view the Taipei skyline and Taipei 101, where do you go? Most people, both locals, and tourists, will probably answer Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan). Admittedly, the views of Taipei 101 ARE spectacular and the hike up is relatively easy. What’s not spectacular,… Read More »Taipei Hidden Gem | Zhong Pu Shan

Entrance to Ningxia Night Market

Travel in Taiwan | Ningxia Night Market

Located in the Datong District 大同區 of Taipei, Ningxia Night Market 寧夏夜市 is considered a “smaller-scale” market when compared to Raohe or Shilin. But don’t be mistaken, what it lacks in the clothing/souvenir department it makes up for in the food it offers. Of course, Ningxia has all the regular… Read More »Travel in Taiwan | Ningxia Night Market

Back to the Appalachian | Buttermilk Falls

It seems that every time we decide to go hiking, it’s a trail on the Appalachian. It makes sense though, given its proximity to NY. One of these days we’ll plan a longer trip, one that’ll take us a little farther from NYC. But for now, we’re off to our neighbors to the west, New Jersey.

A Heavenly Trail | Stairway to Heaven

The Stairway to Heaven is a 7-mile there-and-back trail on the Appalachian. If you enter the trail pass route 94, you’ll be able to skip the first 2 miles of the hike. There’s not much there, so I recommend just entering past route 94. Use the address 441 New Jersey 94, Vernon Township, NJ.

First Hike in the States | Breakneck Ridge

Breakneck Ridge lies in Cold Spring, just slightly upstate from NYC. From my home in the middle of Queens, its a brief(ish) hour and a half car ride north. If you don’t have a ride, there is also a Metro-North stop just across the trailhead. Be aware though, it runs only on weekends.
